  • In 2009, Genzyme located a viral contaminant that forced it to halt production of its two best selling drugs at their Allston, Mass. facility. They’re installing redundant capabilities with a focus on supply inventories.
  • They are investing more than $200 million in the Allston plant for an expansion project that is planned to be finished in 2010. Other Allston plant projects have been designed for redundancy within the plant and again give Genzyme greater flexibility to deal with any potential disruption in the future.
