The Sysco CRUSH Report now has a new Technology Business Drivers section! Some examples of their technology business drivers for 2010 are:

  • In 2009, Sysco is reviewing many of their processes and are finding ways to further streamline its operation. They signed a contract with SAP and continue to make progress on the design of their new technology platform. They expect to have design work completed by the end of 2009 and will provide a comprehensive update on the project in December 2009. The goal of the project is to create a new technology platform that simplifies and standardizes their business model, which they believe will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.
  • Their National Supply Chain initiative is focused on lowering inventory, inbound freight, product costs, operating costs, working capital requirements and future facility expansion needs at their operating companies while providing greater value to their suppliers and customers. A component of their National Supply Chain initiative is the use of redistribution centers (RDCs) which aggregate inventory demand to optimize the supply chain activities for certain products for all Sysco broad line operating companies in a geographic region. They have two RDCs located in Virginia and Florida and have purchased the land for a third RDC in Indiana.
  • In 2010, they expect capital spending to be approximately $600 million to $650 million. The spending includes maintenance items, such as ongoing fleet replacement, facility repairs and growth items, including expansions to their current facilities and potential foldouts. Spending also includes expenditures related to their ongoing ERP project.
