Agreement 2009

Description

Timken, Union Set To Begin Contract Talks
Thursday August 13th 2009 12:00:00 AM

The Timken Company and the Steelworkers union plan to open contract negotiations on the mutually agreed upon date of August 25. The current agreement, which covers 2,300 people at the company's bearing and steel plants in Canton, is set to expire September 28. Both the company and the union leadership are working toward achieving a new contract prior to the expiration of the current one.
Serving our customers is critical to maintaining our competitive position and the livelihood of our associates, and we are committed to do that without interruption until a new contract is ratified.

Note from Steel Group President Sal Miraglia
Thursday August 13th 2009 12:00:00 AM

Welcome to Agreement 2009, a Web site focused on our work toward a contract for Timken and its Canton, Ohio-based Steelworkers that keeps our company viable for the long term. Toward that aim, we have set up this site to provide updates and information about issues that are vital to our future which will factor into these discussions.

Since our focus is on getting to an agreement, we don't plan to use this forum to debate terms that are better kept at the bargaining table. This site is intended as a resource for all Timken constituents, to keep you informed on our progress, and to ensure you have the facts that are relevant to the many issues being discussed. We welcome your feedback, and hope you'll check back often for new information.
